Have you ever felt the need for adventure? The need for a sense of freedom? This book will give so much more than just that. This book will pull at your heartstrings, make you feel something you never have before. It'll make you cry, laugh ,and just when you think you know what is going to happen next, a wild breeze comes a swoops the story in a different direction. "Into The Wild" by Jon Krakauer, is a book like no other. It takes the real-life story of a young man taking off on a journey of his own. With no money, and the clothes on his back, this young man takes his life on a voyage like no other.
This book has a unique sense of just throwing a story at you in a way that has never been seen before. A young man named Christopher McCandless leaves home after his college graduation, giving up all of his money to charity, and taking off “into the wild” without a trace, not even informing a single person about his new adventure. As the author dives into the story of Chris's travels, he also incorporates a few stories. Stories about Chris's past, stories from the people who met Chris on his way and the author gives his thoughts and information about exploration and others that have to the same sense of adventure as young Chris.
The author, Jon Krakauer, does a beautiful job of explaining the protagonist, the setting and the theme of his book, and making visualizations of where events had occurred. “Into The Wild”merely is a story of adventure. You may say there are many stories of this sort out there to read such as one of Chris McCandless’ favorite books, “The Call of The Wild” by Jack London. The reasoning of this book being so appealing and truly draws in readers is because of the magnitude of this young man's life. Young Christopher is not your everyday explorer. He's a kid just like you and me, but his look on life will give you something that can not be put into words. He will push you to live a life of love and forgiveness. One of the quotes I found while reading is truly the pure meaning behind this book ,” when we forgive we love, and when we love God's light shine through you.” I believe this is one of the most important things said in this story.
As you sit here and read this, I want you to think about your dream place to travel to in the world. Image it right now, today you were to drop everything and go for your dreams with no hesitation. With nothing driving you but your will and your heart. That is was this book is about it isn't only about outdoors and traveling, it's about going for your dreams and never giving up. Through thick and thin whatever your goal may be, you must strive to accomplish it, you must love and give faith and to forget and forgive because only then will you truly be happy for what you have accomplished.
“Happiness is only real when shared” Christopher McCandless
